Here is some info on the Mandeville/Covington area...for those of you who have not come back yet.

The area has a great deal of fallen trees but it seems that most of the highways and neighborhoods have been cleared. Many houses are damaged and the same goes for power lines. In my case, we had literally about 50 trees down but only 1 hit the house. Winds must have gotten well over 100 mph. I havnt been to the Lakefront but from what I heard, it flooded very badly. Electricity is still out and probably will be for awhile. Although, companies are working very hard to get power back to the area. Generators have been set up at the Shell and Exxon gas stations and are now selling gas ( off of HWY 190 by the movie theatre.) The wait is very long....I must have seen over 100 cars waiting at each station. Free ice and water has been given out at Target. Rouss's was open for shopping and FEMA has provided familes with boxes of packaged food. Kind-hearted people from other parts of the state have been coming and are helping with the clean-up. Thank You!

Email me specifically if you want info on Mandeville/Covington area periodically at thudso3@yahoo.com.

My boyfriend's mom lives near the lakefront and went to see her house today. She lives off Monroe and Coffe Street. Her house was not flooded, the water went up to the front step and flooded her car but not the house and no windows were broken. The house across from her had a tree on it, but monroe street on the other side away from the lakefront is ok as far as water goes.
